The Internet The internet has enormous potential for spreading the Gospel of Christ and is a useful source for information about Christianity - if you know where to look! The internet can also be a very dark place. This website is here in the hope to make the internet a better place for UK Christians. It works on two levels - for the Christian webmaster who will, over time, be able to find resources, encouragement, and information on managing a Christian website. But this website is also a resource for the Christian who is just surfing the internet and looking for good Christian content and design. This website has several sections including a comprehensive links database aimed specifically at UK Christian Websites. Creativity and design We'll be looking at web site design for your church / organisation, examples of good design, where to get resources, how to promote your website and much more. We'll also be looking at print design and other forms of creativity like worship / music, puppets, drama etc etc. Basic philosophy We also believe that a great website - infact some of the best - do not need to incorporate the latest technology in order to be a fantastic resource for the Christian community. On the internet, quality, accurate, and true content is king! Technology can often make a website look superficially 'lovely' (and at the same time create a significant cost in the website budget), but that in itself doesn't always make an 'average' website outstanding. A brief history of UK Christian Webmaster...where this part of the UK Christian Website came from... Originally, this section begun as the UK Christian Web British Guild of Christian Webmasters which was started up by Jeremy Snooks in March of 2001 and which subsiquently moved to UK Christian Web in July 2002. When the British Guild of Christian Webmasters was originally set up in March 2001, the aim was to encourage other Christians who were involved with making web sites, particularly with a special emphisis towards Christians in the UK. The vision was for people of like-mind to be helping each other. This basic vision, though the site has changed many times, is still the same today in the form of this part of the UK Christian Web site. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the original hosea website. The original hosea website made content available as public domain before they closed down a while back which was a great help in starting this section off originally. Since then as time permits, we will continue to make changes, update and improve this site in the hope that it will continue to build into a helpful resource for all. |
